2018 June Grants have been Awarded!

Thanks to the generous donors and OYH board members, we were able to award almost $105,000 in funds this month to Minnesota agencies in need!

Hunger and Homeless Grants:

Bridgepointe Community Food Pantry for $2,850 to purchase a new stove, coffee maker, and freezer.

Community Emergency Assistance Programs, Inc. (CEAP) for $6,200 to assist in the purchase of a lift grate for CEAP’s food rescue truck.

Life House, Inc. for $1,647 to purchase a new oven for Life House’s drop in center kitchen.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church -Mission Outpost for $5,000 to purchase a cooler.

People Reaching Out to People (PROP) for $3,500 to purchase a new refrigerator.

Ruth’s House of Hope, Inc. for $3,465 to replace main floor 42″ door and the 3rd floor fire escape door.

Sabathani Community Center for $7,000 to repair cracks in flooring.

Servants of Shelter for $3,500 to purchase a new water heater, supplies, and hotel stays for guests.

St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church – St. Andrew’s Community Resource Center for $6,340 to purchase appliances and furniture for their new housing shelter in Hugo, MN.

Stepping Stone Emergency Housing for $9,398 to purchase a new oven.

The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless for $5,000 to support MCH’s 2018 Statewide Annual Conference.

The Salvation Army of Fergus Falls for $4,720 to purchase a kitchen steam table.

 

Education Grants:

Haven Housing – Ascension Place for $2,500 to help provide necessary items for 130 students to help ensure that school success in not interrupted or impeded due to homelessness.

Evergreen Youth & Family Services, Inc. for $3,000 to help provide essential school supplies, gym shoes, clothing, activity costs, and transportation funds.

Grace House of Itasca County for $3,000 to support the youth in area schools experiencing homelessness or in transitional housing by creating pathways for improved success and academic success.

Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul for $3,000 to help provide shoes, school supplies, and transportation for students.

Minneapolis Public Schools for $3,000 to purchase backpacks and to help respond to unexpected educational barriers for students experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis Public Schools.

Perspectives, Inc. for $3,000 to help send at-risk students to summer camp, which will help narrow the life experience gap of homeless and increase their academic, social, and nutritional skills.

Project for Pride in Living Inc. (PPL) for $3,000 to help provide resources for children who are exiting homelessness and living in PPL housing.

Safe Haven Shelter for Battered Women for $3,000 to purchase school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and other necessary educational materials to allow homeless students to equally participate with their peers.

Saint Paul Public Schools for $3,000 to help purchase school supplies, hygiene products, and other essential items needed by students experiencing homelessness.

Simpson Housing Services for $3,000 to help purchase school uniforms and shoes for children who have experienced homelessness.

Sojourner Project for $2,500 to purchase school supplies and clothing to help children experiencing homelessness transition into their new schools and with their peers.

The Bridge for Youth for $3,000 to help homeless youth in the Bridge’s transitional living programs pursue educational advancement.

The Salvation Army of St. Cloud for $3,000 to support tutoring program which will help to provide trauma-informed and individualized care for homeless youth.

Tubman for $3,000 to provide support and purchase necessary items for homeless children and youth, so they are able to fully participate in school and improve their academic success.

Women of Nations for $2,300 to provide necessary school supplies and school-related items for homeless students who have experienced trauma from domestic violence, dating violence, dating violence, or sexual assault.

Youthlink MN for $3,000 to help remove the barriers towards obtaining a GED and taking steps towards educational attainment to provide homeless youth the skills and tools they need to escape poverty.
