June Grants have been awarded! Thanks to the generous donors and OYH board members, we were able to award over $92,000 in funds this month to Minnesota agencies in need!

Hunger and Homeless Grants

For an energy efficient freezer to accept an increased amount of food donations and provide healthier food options.

Face to Face Health and Counseling, Inc.

Towards the purchase of furniture for SafeZone, a homeless youth drop-in center located which serves 1,700 homeless youth annually.

Towards the purchase of a walkie pallet truck with scale for ease of maneuverability and greater control in the warehouse.

To upgrade current food preparation and serving equipment.

For a one-compartment sink for washing donated produce and allowing a quicker turnaround for clients in need.

The Open Door

Towards the purchase of two new stainless steel sinks to better serve hungry people in Dakota County by having the ability to quickly and effectively keep food storage bins clean and filled with fresh and perishable produce.

Towards the purchase of a new fridge to provide more relevant, nutritious foods to people experiencing food insecurity, homelessness or poverty in the community.

Education Grants

Athlos Academy of St. Cloud

To provide transportation to homeless students to school, pay for school uniforms and any school or household supplies needed.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud
$3,000 | St. Cloud, MN
To provide youth ages 14-21 in the Support and Advocacy for Independent Living access to GED services, ACT/SAT tests and study materials, school supplies and college application fees.

D.I.V.I.N.E. Institute
$3,000 | St. Paul, MN
To provide out of school programming, summer school meals and basic services to students in need.

Evergreen Youth & Family Services, Inc.
$3,000 | Bemidji MN
For supplies and tools for students experiencing homelessness to feel connected to school.

To support youth experiencing  homelessness or in transitional housing by creating pathways for improved access and academic success.

Red Wing Youth Outreach Program, Inc.

To ensure homeless teenagers are enrolled in and have transportation to local alternative school, as well as provide independent living skills education.

Rochester Public Schools
$3,000 | Rochester, MN
To provide incidentals and basic needs items to students experiencing homelessness, such as hygiene products and bus passes.

Safe Haven Shelter for Battered Women
$3,000 | Duluth, MN
To purchase necessary clothing, backpacks, school supplies and activity fees – allowing the shelter’s homeless students to participate in important learning opportunities that will support their academic, social, emotional and behavioral health.

The Bridge for Youth
$3,000 | Minneapolis, MN
To provide youth residents with items necessary for them to be successful in school; as a result, 75% will attend school regularly, 80% will make progress toward their goals and 75% will exit to a safe living situation.

The Link

To support students experiencing homelessness through a combination of school-led excursions, field trips, sports funding, transportation assistance, and community gym memberships.

Women of Nations

To provide school supplies, backpacks and school uniforms for students who are homeless because of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual violence.
