Local Homeless Prevention Aid Tribal Allocation: In 2021, the legislature allocated $20 million in funding to establish a Local Homeless Prevention Aid to help local governments ensure no child is homeless within a local jurisdiction by keeping families from losing housing and helping those experiencing homelessness find housing. The original legislation did not include an allocation to Tribal governments.

Deadline: The Department of Revenue certifies amounts for counties and tribal governments by August 1 each year.

Statewide Local Housing Aid: This is a newly established program at the Department of Revenue provides funding to greater Minnesota cities, greater Minnesota and metro area counties and Tribal governments for emergency rental assistance, financial support for nonprofit affordable housing provider, costs for the construction, acquisition, rehab of affordable housing and for those outside the metro the development of market rate rental properties.

Deadline: Aid began in 2023.
