Open Your Heart recently provided 180 Degrees with funding toward beds and mattresses for the St. Cloud Youth Shelter, providing 155 youth (ages 10-18) annually with a safe, dignified space to access emergency shelter, case management, and mental health services.
Located near McKinley Park, 180 Degrees St. Cloud Youth Shelter is the only 24-hour emergency shelter for youth under 19 in a large, 13-county region of Central Minnesota. Operating from what was once a 1930’s-era farmhouse, the shelter has been updated just once in the mid-1980s and repairs are long overdue.
The existing bedframes are from the 1980s and are “institutional” in appearance. With a newly renovated space (new heating, air conditioning, workable plumbing, new sheetrock, paint, tiles), its important new furniture is added to create a welcoming atmosphere for youth. Renovations will reduce the number of youth turned away due to lack of single rooms in their current shelter layout while building capacity for Mobile Case Management and mental health services to expand and reach more youth in St. Cloud and surrounding communities.
Thank you, 180 Degrees, Inc. for everything you do!
