With support from our generous donors, Open Your Heart provided Dakota Woodlands with funding to purchase a new washer and dryer for use by the residents staying at Dakota Woodlands. These new machines create increased access for residents to wash clothing and bedding items more often to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep their families safe. Dakota Woodlands creates a
pathway to sustainable and independent housing for homeless families by providing a continuum of supportive
services. Dakota Woodlands is the only homeless family shelter in Dakota County. Their primary goal is to help
families secure and maintain permanent, supportive housing. This is done through a person-centered care
partnership and supportive services that lead families to a place of independence. Families that participate in the
Dakota Woodlands program are welcome to stay at the shelter as long as they need to. Shelter staff works
collaboratively with families, helping them to reach their goals of having a safe home to move into, economic
stability, healthcare, and family well-being. Staff provide24/7 support to assist families with removing barriers
that prevent them from moving into affordable housing, connect families with services that help sustain
independence after leaving Dakota Woodlands, and provide specialized training to help families build confidence
and gain life skills that help maintain stability. Dakota Woodlands is seeking volunteers to serve weekend meals to
our residents! To learn more, visithttps://www.dakotawoodlands.org/volunteer.html or email
