Open Your Heart is proud to highlight our grantee partner, Face to Face. Thanks to generous supporters like you, Open Your Heart provided Face to Face with funding toward a new larger oven, expanding kitchen capacity for serving hot meals to youth experiencing homelessness.
Since 1972, Face to Face has been serving young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless in Ramsey County. Today, they provide comprehensive medical care, mental healthcare, housing support, case management, employment training and support, and other social services to low-income and insecurely housed youth ages 11 to 24.
Face to Face served over 2,500 youth between the ages of 11 and 24 last year. They connected with an additional 5,500 youth through their health education outreach. The vast majority (over 85 percent) of their young people are people of color and 17 percent identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Many young people eat all their meals at the SafeZone Drop-In Center. SafeZone provides food, transportation assistance, and personal hygiene products to go; medical and mental health care continues on-site. Having hot meals available is essential to their health and well-being. Support from Open Your Heart will dramatically decrease meal preparation time and increase the number of hot meals available to youth.
Thank you, Face to Face, for everything you do!
