Open Your Heart provided Rivers of Hope with funding to offer financial support to victims/survivors of domestic violence. Financial control can make leaving an abusive relationship extremely difficult and these funds will be used to provide survivors with the essentials they need to be able to leave and find safety in their lives.
Rivers of Hope is a domestic violence center serving Wright & Sherburne Counties with the mission of providing a community-coordinated response to end family violence through advocacy, education, and interagency collaboration. One way Rivers of Hope supports the people they serve is by offering small amounts of financial support to help them overcome barriers they face when leaving a relationship.
In 2022 Rivers of Hope provided gift cards for gas & groceries, paid for one-night hotel stays, bus tickets, and taxis, helped with moving expenses, installed security cameras, and had keys changed all with the goal of helping survivors find safety from abuse. As part of the holiday program this year local businesses donated cleaning and personal care products and Rivers of Hope turned their conference room into a space where families could take whatever they needed to be able to avoid having to use their limited resources on those items and instead be able to purchase gifts or food for the holidays. Rivers of Hope is able to offer all of this thanks to the support of Open Your Heart and the community.
