With support from our generous donors, Open Your Heart provided Shobi’s Table with funding towards increased food storage capacity, meaning more meals without charge for our neighbors who live along the Green Line/University corridor in St Paul, MN. Shobi’s Table is a pay-as-you-can mobile cafe in St Paul, MN. They park the truck in three different church parking lots each week,
serving the Capitol, Frogtown, and Midway neighborhoods. Each week they make a new, delicious, nutritious, from-scratch menu, on which there are no prices. Volunteers help make all the meals and host at the food truck. They are committed to building a community around these meals, each week learning a little more about the people who come regularly, welcoming newcomers, and always having an open ear. They strive for environmental justice by their commitment to using as many compostable materials as they can, using ingredients rescued from Twin Cities Food Justice, and stewarding all food as best they can. They believe in the power of a meal that makes justice, love, and mercy edible and available to all God’s people.
