Open Your Heart recently provided Small Sums with funding toward bus passes to help unhoused individuals get to their first and next paycheck.
When facing poverty and homelessness, securing commonly required gear, tools, and transportation to get to work can be an insurmountable barrier to starting employment. Small Sums removes these barriers by providing required work items, a way to get to work, and additional services to help clients retain employment and achieve long-term economic and housing stability.
At Small Sums, they believe gainful employment is a key factor in helping individuals secure and maintain stable housing. With their practical and timely assistance, they help remove obstacles that often prevent workers from being able to take a job – like required work clothes and work shoes, trade tools, professional licenses or union dues, and an unlimited 31-day bus pass so they have a reliable way to get to work every day for an entire month.
Small Sums has an ongoing volunteer opportunity on the 3rd Thursday of every month for folks to collect items for and assemble their care packs. Please visit the link to sign up!
Thank you, Small Sums, for everything you do!
