With support from our generous donors, Open Your Heart provided SVA with funding towards emergency hotel stays, providing a safe place for domestic violence victims and their children to be able to access life saving services from SVA, such as assistance with protective orders, safety planning, connection to housing, mental health resources and much more.
SVA was founded in the early 1980’s and continues to be the only domestic violence agency located in Scott and
Carver counties. Since its founding, the organization has assisted more than 21,000 women, men and children as
they try to live healthy, violence-free lives. The SVA mission and vision is to assist victims of domestic violence and
end domestic violence in the local community. Current programs include: 24-hour crisis line, crisis intervention
and advocacy, legal/court advocacy, emergency hotel stays and shelter placement, support groups and
community education. Our advocates work one-on-one to create individualized safety plans based on current
needs, and future safety and stability without violence.
Help SVA provide domestic violence services by donating or by volunteering. SVA is currently in need of
crisis line and court advocacy volunteers. For more information or to get help, please connect with Southern
Valley Alliance at www.svamn.org or by calling our 24/7 Crisis Line at (952) 873-4214.
