The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC)

Open Your Heart provided funding to the the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC) to provide emergency access to gift cards for food and two to three night hotel stays across Street Outreach and Drop-In Center programs.

The MIWRC is a non-profit social and educational services organization committed to the holistic growth and development of American Indian women and their families. Founded in 1984, MIWRC provides a broad range of programs designed to educate and empower American Indian women and their families, and to inform and assist those who work providing services to the community. While MIWRC staff continue to support their client relatives through phone contact and other means that allow for the recommended social distancing, the temporary closure of the Drop-In Center and walk-in support services for their street-based relatives left MIWRC unable to provide funded assistance such as taking clients shopping for basic needs and helping them pay cell phone bills online, and with access to gift cards for food and hotel vouchers MIWRC can support their clients while maintaining social distance. Thank you MIWRC for everything you do to support American Indian women and their families.
