Open Your Heart provided Tubman with funding to help provide items and support to homeless students living in Tubman’s emergency shelter and transitional housing programs to fully participate in school and improve academic success.
Tubman opened the third domestic violence shelter in the U.S. in 1976. For 43 years they have been providing emergency shelter and supportive services to homeless adult, youth, and child victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sex trafficking. Tubman helps homeless students receiving services in their shelter, transitional housing, or youth outreach center overcome barriers to education success. They provide safe spaces to live and study; academic support, tutoring and homework help; and supplies to help students fully participate in school. Thank you Tubman for all that you do for individuals and families escaping domestic violence and trauma.
